Thoughts from VMworld 2016. Is VMware becoming synonymous of legacy?

I love the VMworld, as I do VMare. In the last few years VMworld has been “the IT show” if the infrastructure space is your thing. Still today, a large majority of storage and networking companies participate with a booth and some sort of news about integrations between their platforms and VMware products (although less than usual). Something is changing and it is changing very quickly. However, it is clear that something is changing and it is changing very quickly. Dell-EMC deal First of all we are still in the middle of the Dell/EMC acquisition. This obviously doesn’t help,...

Quick note: Heading to SF for @Purestorage //Accelerate and #SFD9

I’m here at the Munich airport looking for a way to manage this looooong layover. What’s better than write a short note about these two great events then? Pure first Monday and Tuesday I will be attending Pure Storage //Accelerate event. Single vendor events are not my favorite, but this time there is something that I think it is worth the travel alone. I can’t say more now but, tomorrow, Pure is going to announce something really (but really) cool, for both the AFA and storage industry in general… stay tuned! Storage Field Day 9 Yes, I’m doing it...

Double feature in Austin with TECHunplugged and Tech Field Day

Here we go with 2016! And the year already looks promising. 2015 came to a close with some interesting news (like the Solidfire acquisition by NetApp and Nutanix filing for IPO), but it’s time to look ahead and what could be better than information and the latest updates directly from the horse’s mouth? In the first week of February, starting from the 2nd, two great and complementary events will be taking place in Austin: TECHunplugged and Tech Field Day 10. They are different in format, content and the way they can be attended… but both are definitely worth the...

#SFD8, it’s storage prime time!

Next Tuesday, Oct. 20, I’ll be traveling to Silicon Valley for Storage Field Day 8! Storage Field Day, as well as all the other “Field Days”, is a great event that brings together IT vendors (mostly startups) and influencers. The idea is simple: each vendor has a two hour slot which is usually filled up with presentations about the company, its vision, product and a live demo. Sessions are always very interactive (and you can participate by using the #SFD8 hashtag on twitter). It will also be broadcasted live on the TFD website (and you can find a video...

Back on track! #VMworld, #TFDx and #TECHunplugged

Here we go again! Summer holidays are over (for me, at least) and I’m gearing up for a very hot September! There are a lot of interesting things usually happening in September and this is the month when everyone starts to look at the last Q of the year. On my side, I’ll be hitting the road again collecting and sharing information as well as working on new ideas… VMworld and TFDx First stop at VMworld. It has become the crucial event to attend if you work in the IT industry. And It’s no longer only for Vmware end...
